b. 1962, Bangkok, Thailand Lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand Across the mediums of painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and videography, Oranniwesna’s work dives into a relational analysis between human and territory, both physically and conceptually. His practice delves into personal and collective memories, dealing poetically with spaces, urban cartography and the geo-body of the nation/state. Oranniwesna is appreciated for his unmistakably distilled and contemplative installations that deal with concepts of home, identity, and displacement, challenging the perception of the viewer and the space between people and his artwork. He has exhibited in major exhibitions domestically and internationally, such as the Thailand Biennale, Chiang Rai (2023); 12th Gwangju Biennale (2018); Setouchi Triennale (2013); Singapore Biennale (2013); the 18th Biennale of Sydney (2012); the 52nd Venice Biennale (Thai Pavilion, 2007).
