A pioneer of Algerian painting, Baya exhibited alongside the greatest modern artists during her lifetime. Her mastery of form and color, her highly recognizable style, and her profound freedom place her among the most unique artists in art history. Her paintings of lush nature, both joyful and colorful, are more relevant than ever in an era that is rethinking our relationship with nature and life.
