Jina Park

Jina Park’s paintings explore how the world in which an individual exists is observed and interpreted in various ways by others. The motifs collaged onto the canvas are objects that the artist has personally collected from museums, zoos, and botanical gardens across different cultures. The fragments of each image are rearranged according to arbitrary rules within her compositions. The role of each symbol is then redefined through the viewer’s learned tastes, biases, and perceptions.
