Jinsung Park

The existence in the work of the artist Jinsung Park Ajeossi does not refer only to a middle-aged man in the dictionary sense. A being who represents an "anonymous adult" who may be someone's father, husband, or himself. The artist intended to capture the inner world of unpretentious, artless adults through the peculiar character created by adding wrinkles and a light mustache to a child’s face. The artist expresses the repressed emotions that have been built up in his heart through the image of a tearful figure, and tries to convey a message of happiness and comfort through various facial expressions and situational descriptions. He believes that real happiness comes when he lets go of adulthood for a moment and lets out of his honest self. 박진성 작가의 작업 안에서 아저씨 라는 존재는 사전적 의미인 중년남성만을 뜻하지 않는다. 누군가의 아버지일수도, 남편일수도, 아니면 자기자신일수도 있는 ‘익명의 어른’을 대변하는 존재이다. 순수했던 어린 시절의 아이 형상에 주름과 수염을 표현하여 만들어진 특유의 인물상을 통해 작가는 이시대의 어른을 표현한다. 작가는 눈물 흘리는 인물상을 통해 가슴속에 쌓아왔던 억눌린 감정들을 표현하고, 다양한 표정과 상황묘사를 통해 행복과 위로의 메시지를 전하려 한다. 어른스러움을 잠시 내려놓고 솔직한 자신을 꺼내 놓을 때 진짜 행복이 온다고 믿는다. We feel that we have at last come of age when we are able to give a hollow smile to our wounds and grief and realize our beautiful memories as something immature. The more we grow up, the less we open our hearts. Ajeossi in my work does not merely mean "middle-aged man" as its dictionary definition. He represents "an anonymous adult" who may be one’s father, husband, or himself. Iintended to capture the inner world of unpretentious, artless adults through the peculiar character created by adding wrinkles and a light mustache to a child’s face. Tears in almost all my worksstand for an honest expression of one’s feelings oppressed in our society. Tears shed by adults are regarded as a signof weakness that should be held back. These repressed tears leave contemporary people with a lot of hard feelings in their hearts. I try to express suppressed emotions through acharacter who sheds tears and convey the messages of happiness and solace through his diverse facial expressions and description of various situations. I believe I could be truly happy when I disclose my true self without sticking to the trappings of adulthood. Thus, I’d like to define every tear in my works as an act for happiness.
