Oh Seo

Based in Seoul, Kr, Los Angeles, United States

In their practice, Se Oh (b. 1984) draws upon their personal history, having been adopted from South Korea and raised in the American Deep South, through explorations of resilience and nurturance realized in ceramics, painting, and soft sculpture. Using traditional media such as porcelain, Hanji, and silk, materials characterized by their simultaneous suspensions of fragility and durability, Oh’s work evokes deeper reflection on the ontological consequences of existence in liminal spaces. Se Oh is currently based in Seoul and Los Angeles. Recent solo exhibitions include Polyculture , Tang Contemporary Art Bangkok, Bangkok (2025); Elegies: Little Deaths , Stroll Garden, Los Angeles (2024); Country Boy, I Love You, One Trick Pony , Los Angeles (2023); Han , Half Gallery, New York (2023). Se Oh’s work has been included in group exhibitions at Phillips Auction House, New York (2024); National Asia Culture Center (ACC), Gwangju (2024); Kasmin Gallery, New York (2023); Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles (2022); among others.
