Based in London, Uk, Seoul, South Korea
Hyunhee Doh was born in 1996 in Busan, South Korea, and is currently based in Seoul and London. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London, in 2023. Her major solo exhibitions include Space Woon Sol in Incheon (2023) and SeoJin Art Space. She has also expanded her artistic practice by participating in numerous group exhibitions, including the Seoripul Youth Art Gallery in Seoul, Playground 72 in London, Maverick Projects, Silian Gallery, and Gallery 46. Doh visualizes the accumulation and dissolution of sensation and memory over time through the medium of hanji (Korean mulberry paper). The way hanji absorbs water, wrinkles, and retains traces mirrors the dynamic life cycle of cellular growth and decay—an ever-evolving process of transformation. The act of layering and erasing pigment on hanji echoes the way cells respond, adapt, and evolve in reaction to their surroundings. The resulting traces serve as imprints of sensation and memory—fragments of an identity in flux.
