Pierre Knop

Pierre Knop’s compositions chiefly derive from his personal well of memories. Scenes from the past, found images, and photographic impressions are all condensed and materialised onto the canvas. Emotions embedded in each scene lead to vastly different atmospheres, skillfully conveyed by the artist through careful examination of colours. Knop explores the multidisciplinary nature of the art of painting. He instinctively employs a myriad of techniques to develop his intricate compositions, and his choice of medium ranges from ink to crayon, watercolour to oil paint, and acrylic to pastel. Pierre Knop strives to reexamine painting’s rules and conventions, and in doing so, blurs the lines between drawing and painting, gravity and levity, order and chaos.
