Integrating digital tools with traditional approaches to painting, Sun Woo ’s practice engages with themes of consumption, identity, memory, and contemporary psyche reflected in humanity’s ever-growing interaction with commodified technologies. Constructing eerie spatial compositions embedded with personal narratives, she attempts to anchor fleeting images found online onto the physical body of the canvas, where their distinct properties clash or come together in the tangible space that we occupy. Sun Woo received her BA from Columbia University in the City of New York. She has exhibited in galleries and art spaces including Make Room, Los Angeles (2023) Carl Kostyál, London (2022); Rundgænger by Schierke Seinecke, Frankfurt (2022); ATM Gallery, New York (2021); Art Sonje Center, Seoul (2021); Galerie Hussenot, Paris (2021); Fragment Gallery, Moscow (2021); Woaw Gallery, Hong Kong (2021); Cylinder, Seoul (2021); Harlesden High Street, London (2020); Foundwill Art Society, Seoul (2020); P21, Seoul (2020); 2/W Weekend, Seoul (2018); among others.
