Eun Lee

Based in Busan, South Korea

Lee Eun combines the languages of ceramics and painting in her work. Starting from subtle emotions and memories, the artist incorporates her own autobiographical narrative. She creates individual fragments of clay, fired in the kiln to subtle variations in color and form, and then connects them to form a single piece. In other words, individual stories come together to form a narrative. Through her work, the artist extends beyond specific personal memories or experiences, connecting threads to the layers of unconscious sensations and demonstrating the expansiveness of experience. In this way, Lee Eun expresses the infinite continuity between day and night, between pieces imbued with blue light, representing the endlessness of beginning and end. Leaving the end of this infinity as the next page in the story of life, the artist aims to communicate with the audience through her work. Lee Eun graduated from Chugye University for the Arts. She began her first solo exhibition at the Gomakwon Gallery in 2008, followed by solo exhibitions at Gallery Nanum(2010), Art Space 3 (2013, 2015), Gallery Yido (2015), and Gallery Royal (2019). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions including "MIX up+" (2011, Korean Ceramic Foundation), "Kim Taekyun and Lee Eun 2-person Exhibition" (2018, Gallery B-one), "Musing Slowly"(2021, Gallery Huue Singapore), and "ART-IST" (2022, BOONTHESHOP). Her works are held in the collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
