Youngji Lee

Known for her naïve-style paintings and bold, vibrant colours, Lee Youngji captures everyday moments. Happily married, most of her illustrations depict doves in pairs, lush trees, plentiful ripe fruits, and beautiful landscapes, which have become her central theme. Lee uses traditional Korean paper, and creating a Korean traditional painting takes time to prepare the foundation for her artworks. Lee depicts trees adorned with thousands of vibrant leaves, with pairs of doves flying and singing around them. Her trees are particularly lively and energetic, as if Persephone had just scattered seeds of life. Lee pays close attention to every tiny leaf, allowing these leaves to tell their own stories and stand out to viewers. It reflects our lives – people spend much time seeking happiness, believing it is something extraordinary, but it can be found in everyday routines, and every moment is special. E-mail.
