Seomi Lee

Filled with fluffy clouds and a blue sky, Lee Seomi’s works depict Sesomi—a fictional being that is part bird and part human, symbolizing the artist’s own eyes and heart—walking through a dreamy, storybook-like world. Unlike conventional printmaking, her work is distinctive: using the monotype technique, which allows only a single impression to be made, she adds a sculptural dimension by cutting and layering materials such as paper and PET film onto the printed surface, and sometimes incorporates copperplate etching as well. The emotions and stories Lee expresses are deeply personal yet carry universal philosophical and spiritual resonance. Her works invite viewers to reflect on the small, everyday moments of life, offering quiet inspiration and gentle emotional depth within our own journeys.
