Kimi Jaak

KiMi JAAK is recognized as an artist who, from an outsider's perspective, captures the memories and emotions of living abroad in her work. Through the character 'John Doe' (referring to an unidentified and unspecified figure in the Western world), she expresses scenes of modern people hidden behind anonymity, still lifes on tables, flowers, cakes, etc. in low saturation. The artist, who attaches greater importance to forming the composition of the other side of an object and its surroundings from which unnecessary elements have been removed, rather than the object itself, concentrates on creating a primitive and substantial form by omitting details that are not essential to a flat perspective. The canvas with contrasting colors evokes a sense of surrealism rather than reality. Since starting with domestic exhibitions in 2017, she has been active in Europe, Singapore, Hawaii, and various fields such as oil pastel, lacquer craft, and illustration, gaining attention for her distinctive painting style and unique sense of color.
