Pannaphan Yodmanee is one of Thailand’s most eye-catching new artists. Her works combines found objects, natural elements such as rocks and minerals, and painted elements that recall traditional Thai art and architecture. Through her mesmerising abstract works, she explores Buddhist philosophy and cosmology; the natural phenomena of time, loss, devastation and death; and the Karmic connection of time as we are born and reborn. In 2015, Yodmanee’s work was shown at “Thailand Eye” at London’s Saatchi Gallery. The show later traveled to the Bangkok Art and Culture Center. In 2016, she won the Benesse Prize, and Akiko Miki, the chair of the jury, commented, “Her painterly, sculptural and architectural work creates a unique, breathtaking landscape by mixing microscopic and macroscopic visions with Buddhist cosmology, traditional and modern techniques, and natural and artificial materials.”
