For this show, the artist’s first in New York, Barney uses the architecture of the gallery as a playing field, a site for physical activity as a transcendental event. In addition to the Gladstone installation Barney’s work may also be seen this fall at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where he will create an installation in December.
