2026 Ewha Womans University College of Art & Design, Western Painting major Graduation Exhibition 《Skipping-Hopping》 Running usually assumes a dash toward a destination. Leaning the body forward and picking up speed, the movement converges in a single direction. Arriving faster, achieving more and moving on to the next stage is also the familiar rhythm that organizes life today. Skipping and hopping move the body differently from running. Tap the ground lightly with your toes, and the rebound lifts the body. Then the body lands a little off from where it took off. Skip! We sometimes move on to the next stage in the given order, but at times we skip what lies between and break away. A body that leaves the ground on its own terms floats for a moment, not fully belonging anywhere. The place it left recedes beneath its feet, and the place it has not yet reached does not yet show itself. Yet in that brief float, the body senses more closely the ground it left, the unknown it has not yet touched, and the different movements it meets alongside. Not knowing where you will land also means being able to look back on the world you briefly left, through light wavering and overlap. Perhaps this momentary weightlessness, leaving one ground and waiting for the next, is what most resembles our present. When we skip from one work to another, different worlds brush lightly against and collide with each other, leaving faint footprints on each other's trajectories. <Skipping – Hopping> is a place for these light leaps. The lifted body reaches the ground again. Where might a light leap take us? Hop, again! We lay hope over our skip, in movements that lift lightly, touch one another, and then find each of our own grounds again. Open Tue–Sun 10:00–18:00
