Yoo Naul creates works using collage techniques and computer-based image recomposition, incorporating everyday objects that are easily found in daily life. Rooted in faith and spirituality, his works visualize stories from the Bible, delivering direct messages that are supported compositionally by various objects—paradoxically expressing the fragility of humanity before the absolute divine. Fragile Yves 2 (2021) is a drawing based on a model from the Yves Saint Laurent collection, conceptually linked to the story of Adam and Eve and the “garments of skin” (a symbol of substitutionary atonement through animals). Through the process of digitizing and editing the original collage elements, the artist creates a digital collage in a flat image format that prompts reflection on the properties of surface and materiality. The vivid primary colors and graceful drawing lines harmonize with the objects in a sculptural way, capturing the viewer’s attention. GROUP EXHIBITION DECEMBER 15, 2021 - JANUARY 16, 2022
