Sungwook Do Born in Daegu, Korea, 1971 - ABOUT Sungwook Do assigns the title “condition-light” to his forest paintings. Taking light — the quintessential requirement for visual cognition — as his subject, Do’s paintings emphasize that what he is trying to depict is not the objects in the world but the light that allows them to be visible. More specifically, the paintings seem to make known the aura of nature that the scattering or flooding of light reveals to us; the various kinds of energy existing inside a forest refracting and dispersing the light that collides into them.
