Hyunbin Kwon

Based in Paju

KWON Hyun Bhin lingers on her subjects, imagining their potential as sculpture. Kwon’s work becomes a record of this sustained gaze, often beginning with ordinary scenes found in nature. Aware that nature is never still, with its possibilities and limitations constantly shifting, Kwon accepts it as it is while attempting to narrow the distance between it and the materials she selects. Stones, Styrofoam and other synthetic materials serve both as tools for questioning and as traces of her sculptural investigations, shaped and reshaped as Kwon brings them closer to her imagined form. _ Jee Young Maeng Associate Curator KWON Hyun Bhin (b. 1991) graduated from Seoul National University with a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Sculpture.
